A little of something is better than a lot of nothing
Did you know I was in the Insanity DVDs?! I was!
Today, though, was my first workout in 5 days. Whoops! Between travel delays and speaking at Montreal’s Super Sunday, I really let my workouts slide. Today was also the first day of month 2 of Insanity. It gets nuts (if you don’t know) in month two, and I really wanted to ease back in or maybe life some weights. I knew that showing up to my Insanity workout was not going to be pretty, and it wouldn’t be 100%.
I hear that all the time. “Jimmy, I don’t want to do something unless I can give it 100%.” That’s sounds like a very noble excuse, but it’s still just an excuse. Waiting until you can “really dedicate yourself” to something is not a plan.
What in life do you start at 100%? Nothing! You start everything by learning a little as you go, trying more each day, and improving.
You’ll get more benefit in doing a warm up or doing the stretch portion of a program than you will doing nothing!!! That all-or-nothing mentality doesn’t work for anyone, so if you’ve been waiting for the “right time”, then stop waiting. The time is now.
