Creating Motivation When You Have ZERO Momentum
What do YOU do when you don’t feel like doing ANYTHING?
For me, there are days I don’t want to do a damn thing. And when I do try, I never get all the way through my to-do list and I realize that the to-do list never ends – super defeating!
First, let me mention the book SCRUM. It’s about working smarter, and breaking apart your to-do list into chunks. It’s basic message is DON’T MULTITASK! Close all the tabs, turn off the phone, and focus on each thing one at a time. We lose productivity each time we switch gears!
Second, do something. I didn’t sit around in resistance of all the things I had to do. I accepted the fact that I felt unmotivated and instead of pushing hard against my list, I just chose one or two. Once I chose a few things off of my to-do list, I got started. I did a few mundane little things.
Then those things led me to a few conversations.
Those conversations led me to a few other thing and boom. Productive day.
Notice that all it took was a few little steps. Sometimes you have to start moving before motivation finds you!
I created fivedaysoffire.com if you’re having difficulty getting motivated. Just because you see me, “Mr. Motivation”, being uber-productive, it doesn’t mean that I don’t have to revisit my own offerings! It’s usually those of us teaching the lesson who need to learn the lessons most!
