It’s time for some more dream chasing
After wrapping up 3 days in Disney Land in California with my wife and two kids, I’m staying in Los Angeles for a month. This isn’t a sabbatical to take a month-long nap. This is a new opportunity for me…Before I was a Beachbody coach, I was a musical theatre actor. I sang all day, 16 bars of music over and over again. My career didn’t go in that direction but it never stopped being my first joy.
Little by little, over years of not singing, I lost my confidence in singing. I stopped using those muscles. And I miss it. Through my business and this crazy entrepreneurial world I’m in, I was connected to Bo Eason and Roger Love.
These two men have trained some of the greatest speakers and singers (and even non-singers) in the world. I reached out to Roger Love and asked him, “How long did you train Joaquin Phoenix to prepare for Walk the Line?” (Can you believe he trained Mr. Phoenix AND Ms. Witherspoon?!)
“Three weeks,” he told me.
So I asked him if I could come to LA for three weeks and get one-on-one training from him. I threw it out there. And you know what he said? “Let’s do this.”
But then came my wife. I told her I might be able to get a condo for our entire family. I told her I didn’t know about the ROI on this investment. But you know what she said? “Go. You go for three weeks and you follow your heart.”
I don’t know what this trip will be. But I want my kids to know dad sings. I need this piece of me back for them. And it’s in my gut. I plan to document a lot of this experience. It will all be super humbling.
Pursue that thing in your gut. Somewhere you’re settling. And I’m being an example for you to STOP settling. None of this makes sense to most of the people in my life, but that doesn’t matter. I hope you recognize that as long as you have breath, you have the choice to change things.
