If you have been following my blog, you know that I was recently hand picked to be part of a very select test group to go through the new Ultimate Reset Cleanse from Beachbody, creators of P90X, INSANITY, and BRAZIL BUTT LIFT. As I pointed out in this previous post about my Ultimate Reset Journey, while it was flattering to be chosen for this test group, I still had quite a few concerns about embarking on this 21 Day Cleanse.  The thought of not working out for 21 days was very daunting to me.  Even though it has been over 10 years since I lost 100 pounds, there were still very real fears that if I didn’t keep moving I could gradually revert to my old habits – seriously!   I mean, I am a pretty healthy guy.  Was this Ultimate Reset even designed for someone like me?

WHO IS THE BEACHBODY ULTIMATE RESET FOR?

What I liked best about watching these testimonies was the athlete looking to improve his performance.  I heard Beachbody Ultimate Reset co-creator, Isabelle Daikeler, share that a test group of Olympic level athletes went through the Ultimate Reset (many of them with the same fear of not working out for 21 days), only to see their performance improve once completing the cleanse!  So with that knowledge, I was sold!

My second question may be the same question you are asking yourself now.

WHAT DOES THE BEACHBODY ULTIMATE RESET DO?

 

Improving my energy and focus was very appealing to me. I knew I didn’t get enough sleep, drank too much caffeine, and could use digestion improvement!

The first thing that was definitely a big change was the amount of water I was asked to drink. I always THOUGHT I drank plenty of water. Boy was I WRONG! Drinking a gallon of distilled water a day really showed me how badly I was lacking in this area. It has been a habit I have continued to utilize now that I have finished the Ultimate Reset.

My other concern was the food. Not so much the type of food (I’m a pretty unpicky eater), but more about how involved and time consuming the food prep would be. I’m a ‘cook in bulk and reheat throughout the week’ kind of guy. So the thought of preparing meals with lots of ingredients spices, chopping, and the like was not appealing. Surprisingly despite the ingredient lists, every meal was very simple to prepare.  And the best part… I LOVED ALL OF IT! I am thrilled to have the cookbook that came with the Ultimate Reset so I can prepare many of my favorite dishes over and over again.

GET TO THE GOOD PART. WHAT WERE YOUR FINAL RESULTS???

OK, OK! Enough with the delay: I am happy to report the following results from doing the Beachbody Ultimate Reset:

  • 7 Pounds Lost
  • No muscle tone lost
  • Improved sleep.  7-8 full hours without my usual middle of the night stirring.
  • Broke my need for caffeine!
  • Clearer Skin. A big bonus for my acting career
  • My Cholesterol dropped 40 Points!!!!

So, needless to say, I was very happy with my overall results. And easing back into ‘normal life’ has been easier than I thought as well. My body embraced the break. I actually enjoyed my time off from working out, and since returning to my workout routine my performance has improved!

    I’m interested in doing the reset but I’ve become committed to Paleo way of eating. The 21 day meal plan includes many choices that I can’t imagine eating. Is there any way or resources to covert meal plan to follow Paleo methodology.

      I usually follow a paleo routine as well, but I was willing to postpone that for 21 days to see how the Ultimate Reset would impact my health. And I am so glad I did. My Cholesterol dropped 40 points, lost 8 pounds, and kicked my caffeine habit. Then I resumed my paleo routine once I was done.
