So I got a quick tip for you today and it’s one that I’ve been using for a really long time but I think it’s always important to give credit where credit is due. I consider myself the ultimate student when it comes to student of the game when it comes to business and productivity and getting ahead in areas, which is funny because as a former three-time college dropout, I used to have a belief system that I was a very bad student. I just realized I was in the wrong structure that the formal structure of school and college and the way the traditional world tells you that you’re supposed to learn, I didn’t fit into very well and so I was told, “Hey you’re a bad student.”
Much of what we do in our professional lives doesn’t pay immediate dividends. It’s what I’ve taken to calling “painting the fence”, because it’s so easy to focus on getting the results you can’t control rather than the things in your control.
There’s nothing that gets me more fired up and motivated than meeting new people that have great stories about their overcoming adversity to achieve something amazing. Sometimes the story is heartbreaking, but there’s always a silver lining. They show just how truly indomitable the human spirit is and that anything is possible. The fire in their messages is truly exciting. It’s infectious.
