Why You’re Too Tired to Work Out

Energy is a mindset. Sure, sometimes you’re physically exhausted…but a lot of times you’re mentally tired! Energy isn’t something you get from a cup of coffee or the best energy drink in the world. Energy comes from taking that first step. It comes from moving. It comes from expending energy. I know, that seems counter-intuitive, but here’s what I mean.

I follow the 5 minute rule. I decide that I’m going to start my workout and if after 5 minutes I’m not feeling it, I give myself permission to stop. In the 10 years I’ve been working out at home, I’ve probably stopped 4 times. Why? Because as soon as I took that first step, my body and mind found the energy. My endorphins started pumping and that, in turn, changed the course of my entire day.

Unexpected things come up all the time. A work project, a friend from out of town, a sale at your favorite store…and the first thing we all remove from our schedule? Our workouts! It’s time to make your energy a non-negotiable.
