Pick My Brain – You Have Weight Loss Questions, I Have Answers

pick my brain - you have questions

by Coach Jimmy Hays Nelson
Very few things in life are super duper consistent; however, I have noticed something lately that always makes me laugh to myself. As a business owner and a work at home Dad with a flexible schedule, I find myself running most of my errands during the day. (Which is awesome; very little traffic and never crowds to battle- especially at the grocery store!)

More often than not, I am wearing some sort of Beachbody gear while running my errands. A P90X jacket, INSANITY t-shirt, or just carrying my Team Beachbody Elite Coach backpack around. It’s amazing how these things become not only a conversation starter, but at times its like

they are a green light for people to approach me and open up their souls!
I don’t mind it at all! In fact, I LOVE IT! It usually starts with them asking me weight loss questions like, if I have done P90X or INSANITY. But quickly turns to if they have and what their experience with the program was. Some people share amazing success stories with me. How they have not only lost weight, but totally changed their lives because of taking a chance on an infomercial.
They usually go on to tell me how their results have now sparked friends, family members, or co-workers into starting the program themselves. The joy in their eyes of impacting others because of their own hard work is amazing. Many of these people actually end up joining my Team to learn how to more effectively reach out to their community to help End the Trend of obesity.

Others have either tried one of Beachbody’s programs, or bought it and never started. As I ask them why, and they share their experience, I noticed the same type of weight loss questions continue to pop up.
  • How did I start when I was 100 pounds heavier?
  • What program did I start with?
  • How did I change my routine?
  • What supplements do I use?
  • How do I stay motivated?
So I thought I would invite YOU to run a few errands with me! Or at least be able to pick my brain the same way the nice teller at the bank did the other day.

Feel free to ask me about my experience with Beachbody and my 100-pound weight loss. You ask, I answer. Instead of answering your weight loss questions directly in the comment section, I will pick a few questions at a time to tackle in articles in the coming weeks. You game?
Leave your weight loss questions in the comment section. I look forward to lending you a helping hand! – Coach Jimmy

    Hi Jimmy,
What supplements do you use (besides Shakeology, cuz I know you take that everyday :) ) and when do you take them?

Did you really lose 100 pounds? That is an awesome accomplishment. you have a lot of wisdom to share, since changing ingrained habits is one of the toughest challenges. Kudos for that. Also, I love the fact that wearing your athletic gear provides a hook for people coming up to you to talk. Anything that starts the conversation, is a way to connect and be part of humanity!

It’s really up to you. For me, I saw much better results with programs like Power 90, P90X, and INSANITY than I ever did paying a monthly gym membership. So I just kept moving to the next Beachbody program, and created my library I have to choose from every morning. Are you currently doing INSANITY now?

@99d16114c0fdf338b8d64bbf39f004f6:disqus - I have been doing and helping men and women do P90X for 7+ years- and I have NEVER seen a woman ‘bulk up’ from P90X.  Always lean sexy muscle – which in turn burns more fat.  In fact we are running a special where you can try P90X FREE for 30 days here.  http://www.nelsongy.com/get-fit-free-july

I’ve lost 30 lbs so far, what do you do to help with the jiggly skin that starts to hang down from belly & arms area?

quick question. I have had so many people tell me so many different things on how many calories I should be eating. You obviously know what your talking about since you lost 100 pounds and kept them off. I weigh 115 and am trying to get those last 5 to 10 pds off. Im 5ft 2in and I am currently doing turbo fire as my workout but have done Power 90, P90X, P90X2, Insanity, Insanity Asylum vol. 1, Turbo fire, Chalean Extreme, and Rev Abs. I am at a plateau!!!

Jim, how do you feel about creatine and insanity? I would love to try Shakeology but I am now living abroad in South Korea. I am kind of limited to what supplements I can get a hold of. Right now I have creatine and Met Rx meal replacement in my shopping cart. What do you think?

Jim, I am doing Insanity and I love it. I have been wondering what to do the days that there are two workouts scheduled (Pure Cardio+Cardio, Max Cardio Conditioning+Cardio Abs) in order to get better results. Should I do them in one workout session or one in the morning and the other in the evening? What would you recommend?

@disqus_qYUaTIhx8C:disqus – the short answer is which ever schedule will allow you to get both in. Some people don’t have time in the day to split them up so they do it back to back. But if you have the time to split it up during the day- you really can go either direction!

Jimmy, i got a beachbody question… I am not a coach yet but want to be. My question is how easy would it be for a beginner coach to be able to hook up with a coach say like yourself who’s been in the game for a good amount of time to do big things. like organize programs or idk just for big ideas to really try to help as many people as possible. Again my question is how likely for a beginner like me hooking up with a jimmy nelson to help each other to reach more people.

Hey @facebook-709183380:disqus thanks for reaching out. I truly feel in the decision process of becoming a Beachbody Coach the team you choose to join is a vital part of any new Coach’s success. Different team’s have different cultures. I always encourage people to sign up with someone they have a connection with or they like the way that person runs their business so they can learn from that individual. – As far as your question: I love working with beginners – Because I was one myself as well. My goal for a new Coach is to help them avoid all the mistakes I made early on, so they can see success and results in their first month. I love my team, THE CREW, we have an amazing support community, with top notch training where no one feels like they are having to figure anything out on their own. If you would like to know more feel free to email me at admin@nelsongy.com – All the Best!

I on round 2 of insanity! right now on month 2. BUT I feel so exhausted and I burning less calories than I used to to. what that could be? I don’t understand what my body is trying to tell me! I’ve been eating enough, clean and healthy! not the exact meals in the guide cause I’m a student and always in hurry so I don’t have much time to cook BUT however I still eat healthy and enough. and for example: on round 1 I used to burn 600-660 cals doing max interval circuit but now on round 2 I burn 400 or hardly 450 on max interval circuit!! what could be the reason? please reply me soon

@disqus_G2xIWBZENg:disqus – there could be lots of things that attribute to you not working as hard. #1 would be nutrition. You said you aren’t following the food plan. I would highly recommend you follow the plan that come with your INSANITY Workout. Many of the meals are simple and easy to make. — I use Shakeology daily to fill in the gaps I may be missing in my diet. #2 – are you getting enough rest/sleep. You body needs time to recoup between workouts in order to perform at its peak.

Hi Jimmy; i am wondering if you have an idea as to what workout someone could do that has just been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis?. I have approximately 60 lbs that i want to lose and have the doctors ok to start a low impact regime. The main source of my problem is my knees so alot of jumping and bending is hard for me to do right now, i also havent done much of anything for the past year in regards to walking or exercising so i need something to get me started that wont kill me and make me quit. Any ideas?? Thank you for your time.

Hi Jimmy, I’ve been doing INSANITY for almost a month but sometimes I’d be very busy with school so I’d skip a day and compensate for it the next day by doing the workout I missed and of that day. Is this going to hinder my weight loss? I’m trying to lose 20 lbs, I’m 5’1 and weighed 140.
