FOCUS

Focus Image

By Coach Jimmy Hays Nelson I sat down to write this post at 10am.   My intention was to knock this post out first thing, then make my way on to the other things on my to do list…. Oh, but I first I needed to jump on my Facbeook page to answer a question. And while I was on Facebook, I might as well check in on my Insanity Support Group and let them know what workout I did this morning…..  Oh look that is a funny picture on my newsfeed.  I have the best comment for that, it will only take a second. What was that ding?  Oh awesome there are 2 new people wanting to join The Crew as Beachbody Coaches. Man I really don’t like this song on Spotify … where is the thumbs down button. WOW… how is it already 11am?  I told the family I…

Yes! Kids Eating Healthy Can Be Fun!

By Kelly Songy Nelson In elementary school, I ate in the school’s cafeteria. As I moved into high school, I became a sack lunch kid. We’ve all been there, you whip out your lunch and all of a sudden it’s like the opening bell just sounded on the New York Stock Exchange. I’ll give you my orange for your Jello; you gonna eat that mac-n-cheese? Fish sticks…I LOVE FISH STICKS (sure beats the tuna casserole that my Mom packed) I’m sure if Moms could be flies on the wall each day, they’d just throw in the towel when it comes to packing their little ones a healthy lunch! But it doesn’t have to be that way! Your kid could be known as “The Untradable”. For those of you who follow Jimmy and I on social media, you know that the Nelson household is a healthy one! No dairy, fresh organic…

Increase Your Energy In The Office By Changing When You Eat Carbs

by Coach Jimmy Hays Nelson When it comes to energy, weight loss, and nutrition I’m not sure if there is a more controversial topic than Carbs! Are they the enemy? Are they vital? Are they like “The Force” with a dark and light side? Now I am not a nutritionist but I do know Carbs, the slang term for Carbohydrates, are vital for the human body to run.  If you are looking to increase your energy, your carb intake is very important.  The key though is knowing WHEN and WHAT KIND of Carbs you should be eating. Like I said, I am not a professional nutritionist, but I am someone who was able to lose 100 pounds and keep it off for over 10 years.  My energy levels have been compared to that of an excited puppy dog seeing his owner after they have been gone all day.  So the…

You Are What You Eat

by Kelly Songy Nelson For those of you who know me, you know that I’m a planner.  For those of you who know my husband, Jimmy, you know that he’s….well, not a planner…except when it comes to workouts and food.  Jimmy is extremely disciplined in these areas as you can see here. This week we’re in Florida for a conference and it’s the first time that Jimmy hasn’t brought food with him – no chicken, no sweet potatoes, no green beans in zippy bags, frozen and safely stowed in a cooler bag!  We ran out of time packing and just said “it’s OK – we’ll just make due with what the hotel has to offer.”  The only things we brought were oats and shake packs. We got to the hotel and our room wasn’t ready, so we worked out in the hotel gym and headed to the pool restaurant for…
