I Am Sick of Feeling Fat! Why is Weight Loss Confusing?

By Coach Jimmy Hays Nelson I swear that was my mantra from elementary school age until my early 20’s! Have you ever felt that way?  You decide you are ready to take that next step. You truly have a burning desire to finally start taking action to live a healthier lifestyle, but you have NO IDEA where to start!  There has never been more information available about weight loss, fitness, health and nutrition.  But what is the right plan?  There are so many options: Low Fat Diet Atkins Diet Paleo Caveman Diet Cabbage, Lemonade, Cayenne Cleanses Dukan Diet MMA Training Bootcamps Gym Classes High Cardio Low Impact Cardio Cross Fit P90X The Biggest Loser Personal Trainers Long Distance Running Burst Training Sometimes having too many choices is as paralyzing as having no choice.   Every time we read one report, see news broadcasts, or hear from a friend about a program…

Eat to Lose Weight!

by Coach Jimmy Hays Nelson  As an experiment on my Facebook Page I asked the following question: “Your Mid-Morning Go-To Energy Boost Snack Is ________.” I honestly didn’t think much of the post.  I thought it would be a fun way to see what types of snacks people munch on during their work day.  But in asking the question I found a very disturbing trend.   Out of all the answers, 2 responses dominated the list NOTHING COFFEE I hate to break it to you, but neither of those answers are going to yield the results you are hoping for! Coffee and starving yourself will not boost your energy, nor will it help you lose weight. I have to say that it’s not easy and it’s something that I struggle with on a daily basis.   Asher, our precious angel, turned one in February and the past year has been a year of challenges, change and growth (but not on my waistline!) With the overwhelming responsibilities that come along with being a new Mom, it’s often easy to put ourselves on the back burner and just focus on the rest of the family.  I was very guilty of that….

Did You Feel Guilty Eating That?

GuiltyCupcake

By Jimmy Hays Nelson  … The question stuck in my head. That question came in the form of a comment on my Facebook Page when I posted a picture of my cheat meal that week.  The admittance that I cheat on my diet like everyone else wasn’t a huge deal, but the issue of guilt associated with rewarding oneself opened the door to an issue that goes beyond goals and discipline. I allow myself one cheat meal a week where I can eat and drink whatever I want.  A whole rack of ribs with French fries???? If the mood strikes me…Absolutely!  That meal is something I now look forward to each week, and I enjoy every last morsel- but that hasn’t always been the case. As a person with a 100 pound weight loss story, the history of my relationship with food is a complicated one.  Growing up the mirror was…
